About me
I graduated as a general practitioner from the University of Pécs Medical School in 1982 and passed my board examination in radiology in 1987. As a radiologist I have 37 years of experience in performing, reporting and supervising X-ray, ultrasound, mammography, CT and MRI examinations.
For 35 years I performed interventional catheterisation of the peripheral vessels, angioplasty and catheter-based therapy for oncology patients in the DSA laboratory, first as head of section and later alongside my work as head of department.
From 1992 to 2017, for more than 25 years, I was head of the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Diagnostics at Szent Rafael Hospital in Zalaegerszeg. Alongside my day-to-day management and clinical duties, I directed continuous investment in equipment and technical development and modernisation, and I also served as the county’s chief supervising consultant for diagnostic imaging in Zala County.
In addition to numerous publications and lectures, I was the principal organiser, on behalf of the Hungarian Society of Radiologists, of the Lélek Imre Radiology Conference and Training Course, a national event held regularly in Hévíz. The training of doctors and assistants has always been close to my heart: besides local training in Zalaegerszeg, I have taught radiographers at the Department of Diagnostic Imaging of Kaposvár College since 1997.
I am still a member of the local teaching faculty of doctors.
My most significant society and board memberships: board member of the Hungarian Society of Radiologists since 1996 and its General Secretary for 8 years; founding member and long-standing board member of MACIRT (Hungarian Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology); member of the Hungarian Society of Oncology; member of the Hungarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
As one of the initiators of teleradiology in Hungary, I saw the Radiology Department in Zalaegerszeg become the first to launch a broadly organised teleradiology reporting service. I was entrusted with its local management and professional leadership, a role I held for more than 10 years.
My more focused scientific work and publications relate to „diagnostic imaging of pelvic gynaecological diseases”. Among other things, alongside benign and malignant gynaecological tumours, I am still particularly involved in the MRI diagnosis of endometriosis.

- 2017: Zala County Szent Rafael Hospital commemorative plaque for leadership, clinical, organisational and teaching work as head of the Radiology Department
- 2013: „For Zalaegerszeg” Award, in recognition of healing work in the town’s healthcare carried out with great professional knowledge and expertise, always with the interests of patients in need in mind, and of teaching activity promoting the highest possible standard of specialist and assistant training.
- 2005: „Lélek Imre Memorial Plaque” in recognition of work in the development and teaching of ultrasound diagnostics.
- 2004: „Commendation of the Minister of Health, Social and Family Affairs” for introducing new areas of radiological diagnostics within the hospital, for establishing the department’s national reputation, for high-level professional and scientific work, for the role played in staff training and for exemplary ethical conduct.

- 2003: Markusovszky Prize, 3rd place in the consultant category.
- 1998: Commemorative Plaque and Honorary Diploma awarded to the Radiology Department on the 150th anniversary of the founding of Zala County Hospital, together with a diploma recognising work as head of department: for raising the professional and scientific work begun by Prof. Dr. Lélek Imre to a high standard, for implementing mammography screening in Zala County, and for winning national recognition for the Radiology Department.
